Natural virgin wool is a wonderful material: it is thermoregulating, naturally stain-resistant (thanks to lanolin), and incredibly durable. However, to keep its fluffy appearance, your rug needs a minimum of care.

On a daily basis, the vacuum cleaner is your best friend. Use it gently, without using the rotary brush which could tear the fibers. Vacuum in the direction of the pile to avoid damaging the knots.

It is perfectly normal for a new wool rug to 'shed' a little at first, losing some fluff. Don't worry, this fades over time. To speed up the process, you can use a soft plastic brush.

In case of a stain (wine, coffee), the golden rule is reactivity! Immediately absorb the liquid with a clean, dry cloth by dabbing (never rub). Then use a little warm water with neutral Marseille soap or black soap. If in doubt, entrust it to a dry cleaning professional.
